In this podcast, Andy Bungay talks to An-Ting Chang, Artistic Director of Chinese Arts Now, the first arts festival in the UK dedicated to British-Chinese performance and culture in 2019 from 19 January to 2 February
On the bill is ‘Global Soundscapes’ by pianist Belle Chen, who has recreated locations from around the world through music, improvisation, sound design, and bespoke scents. Including the sounds of traditional instruments from around the world, it takes us from the Gare du Nord of Paris to the tropics of Java, the spice markets of Istanbul to an ancient Italian church, and premieres Chen’s new works from her upcoming album Departure.
