What is Frameless?
Frameless is one of London’s first permanent immersive visual art experiences, founded by the collaborating groups FiveCurrents and Artscapes UK, with the intention of bringing both contemporary and historical art to life. The experience offers four galleries walking you through paintings ranging from iconic historical pieces to trendy modern-day art, brought to life through technology.
How was Frameless founded?
FiveCurrents and Artscapes UK collaborated to make Frameless happen. Artscapes UK was founded by Rose Balston in 2009, who was shocked by the lack of interest shown by her peers in experiencing the abundance of free art galleries available in their area. After discovering this, Rose set out with the intention of making an engaging and accessible way for all audiences to appreciate all genres of art. The collaborator, FiveCurrents, is a production company founded in 2005, with their most famous work being their involvement in the 2012 Olympics ceremony. Together, they found a way to capture art in an exciting new way, for everybody to appreciate.
What can you expect from a Frameless experience?
The people working behind Frameless ensured all kinds of art were featured in this project. Four galleries separating the artistic genres are provided in order to fully encapsulate how much art has changed through the years. For example, one of the galleries focuses on the most prevalent pieces that came out of the Surrealist art movement in the 1920s by using the 360 degrees gallery experience. Other galleries are filled with Renaissance art, or modern abstract pieces. Each gallery also has musical accompaniment for the pieces, composed by different artists in order to encapsulate the style of each gallery through an audible medium.
Where can I see it?
